OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY (Part 2)
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” – 1 Samuel 15:22
Beloved, obedience is not optional in our walk with God—it is the foundation of true worship and the key that unlocks His blessings. Saul thought sacrifices could compensate for disobedience, but Samuel reminded him that God’s pleasure is not in outward rituals but in hearts that honor Him through submission.
God desires our obedience before our offerings, because obedience reveals trust, humility, and reverence for His authority. Sacrifices without obedience are empty gestures, but obedience, even in difficult circumstances, pleases Him and establishes intimacy with Him.
Child of God, disobedience is not a small matter—it is rebellion, which God equates with witchcraft and idolatry (1 Sam. 15:23). When we resist God’s command, we elevate our own will above His, creating idols of self, pride, or convenience. But when we obey, even in what seems small or insignificant, we demonstrate that we love Him and acknowledge Him as Lord over our lives.
David understood this truth when he declared: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). God is not after empty rituals, but hearts yielded to Him.
And to those who tremble at His word, Isaiah offers encouragement: even if people mock or despise us for our obedience, God Himself will vindicate us (Isaiah 66:5).
So let us choose obedience over convenience, submission over rebellion, and reverence over pride. For in obedience lies preservation, promotion, and the fullness of God’s blessings.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that obedience is better than sacrifice. Forgive me for the times I have followed my own way instead of Yours. Lord, give me a heart that trembles at Your word, and a spirit that delights in doing Your will. Break every stubbornness, pride, and self-will in me. May my life be a sweet fragrance of obedience before You, and may I walk in total submission to Your authority. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
