DAY 87 – THE LAND OF GOD’S PERSONAL CARE

THE LAND OF GOD’S PERSONAL CARE

“But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven. A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year” Deut. 11:11–12.

Moses is preparing the new generation of Israelites to enter the Promised Land. He contrasts it with Egypt, a land they irrigated by their own sweat and effort. The new land is different. It is a gift, sustained not by human labour but by God’s direct, personal provision. This passage gives us a beautiful picture of the life God desires for His people a life under His watchful and caring eye.

I. The Land is a Unique Gift from God.

“But the land, whither ye go to possession it…” (Deut. 11:11a)

Beloved, this was not a land they had conquered or earned; it was a land God was giving them. Our relationship with God begins with receiving His gifts salvation, grace, and a purpose-filled life not with our own striving.

“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel” Josh. 1:2.

II. The Land has Both Hills and Valleys.

“…is a land of hills and valleys…” (Deut. 11:11b)

Child of God, the life of faith is not a flat, monotonous plain. It has exhilarating mountain-top experiences of joy and revelation, and difficult valleys of trial and sorrow. Both are part of the landscape God uses to shape our character and deepen our dependence on Him.

“Even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me” Ps. 23:4.

III. The Land is Sustained by Divine Provision.

“…that drinketh water of the rain of heaven” Deut. 11:11c

The primary source of water was not human-dug canals but rain sent directly from God. This symbolizes our need to rely on God’s Word and Spirit, the “rain from heaven,” rather than our own limited resources, to sustain our spiritual lives.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” — Matt. 6:33.

IV. The Land is Under God’s Constant Care.

“A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year” — Deut. 11:12.

This is the core of the message. God is not a distant landlord; He is an attentive caretaker. His watchful eyes are on every season of our lives from beginning to end. His care is personal, intimate, and unceasing.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” 1 Pet. 5:7.

Brethren, the Promised Land is a powerful metaphor for the life God offers us in Christ. It is a gift we receive by faith, with varied terrain, sustained by His grace, and, most importantly, under His constant, loving care. You are living in the “land” of God’s personal attention. His eyes are on you today, and every day, from the beginning to the end. You can rest, trust, and thrive in that truth.

PRAYERS

  2. Lord, strengthen me through every hill and valley. Teach me to trust Your presence in every season.
  3. Rain upon my life provision from heaven. Let my strength and supply come from You alone.
  4. Keep Your eyes upon me, my household, and my assignment from the beginning of the year to its end.
